Great-GrandPapa Abe Reno and Family History Page

Here is just a small cruise by on each family member:

Abe Reno was our gr-grandfather born 1831 in Alabama and married Martha Shoemaker on May 4th,1863 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.Martha was born in 1840 in Alabama. I do not have much information on him except that he had 4 children, Nancy, John, Mae and my grandfather Henry Kye Reno. Henry was a young boy when his parents passed away and that Henry had 2 older sisters and a older brother.Henry and his brother, Johnny went to live with their older sister Nancy after their parents death. I believ that we are connected to the Reno line of Louis Reynaud from France.I have done this because after reading the lineage of Louis Reynaud on Steven's user pages I have no doubt that Abe is a decendant of William Thomas"Hatter Bill Reno who was born and died in Blount County,Alabama.Grandpa Abe was born and died in Blount County and there are several things to connect us to the line of Reno's. I have a long way to go with verifying this but I hope that one day I will.

HENRY KYE RENO
Henry Reno is our mother's father. Henry was born in Talledaga County,Alabama on December 17th,1879 and died in Jefferson County on February 22nd,1950.Henry was married to Bertha Pearl McElvana who was born in Blount County on June 26th,1884 and died in Jefferson County, Alabama on August 22nd,1938. Mom has told me that our Grandfather could play a fiddle like no one she has ever heard. She can remember sitting on the porch with him just listening to the sweet music that came from his fiddle.Mom remembers one night, they were sitting in the car and her father was playing the fiddle, after he and Grandma Bertha had been arguing and she looked up and said to him"Papa, look there, here comes Aunt Mag".They could see her comimg across the hill and when she entered the valley, her father yelled for her brother to get his gun.You see, Aunt Mag was Grandpa Henry's half-sister who had been dead for several years and Mom believes it was her coming back to "chew-out" her father for arguing with her mother. Not long after this happened Grandma Bertha passed away.Grandpa Henry grew up on Sand Mountain until his parents death and then moved to Jefferson County with his sister Nancy. I have heard " tall tales" that if you ever visit Sand Mountain, you will have to holler "I'M A RENO" all the way up it because they say that mountain people stick to there own and don't like outsiders.
