The Alverson's have been traced all the way back to the 1600's. Seiliefe was the first who was said to have came from Oslo, Norway to America, and settled in Virginia.
One of his descandants was JOHN ALVERSON who is our 5th generation grandfather.

He then moved to Laurens District, South Carolina where he had drawn bounty land. Children of John and Frances are: ELIJAH, Zachariah,William,John Jr.,Frances,Polly and Kissie.

He drew a pension and bounty land in Alabama. MARY "ETTA" ALVERSON was our gr-grandmother.She was born December 17th,1874 in Coal City, Alabama and died July 27th,1953.She died in Graysville but that was not her place of residence at the time of her death, so I assume that she was at Uncle Finis and Aunt Tiny's house when she died. She is said to be buried in the same garve as her mother, Sarah, in Harkey's Cemetery. She married gr-grandpa William D. Smith on May 4th,1892 in St.Clair County.Children of Grandma Etta and Grandpa Bill are Herman Dewey Smith (PAPA) born July 19th,1897 in Coal City and died September 8th,1957 in the Veterans Hospital in Birmingham.Read about PaPa and Granny Smith on the Smith and Meads family pages. Lovekin V. known to us as Uncle Souly. Finis born October 26th,1901 in Coal City and died September 23rd,1988 inGraysville,Alabama. Uncle Finus was married to Aunt Tiny. I do not have her real name, because we always called her that.
